At Priory Rise, we follow the Milton Keynes syllabus for RE. All children have regular access to Religious Education at varying points of the year. Each year, children are exposed to a range of religious practices to develop their knowledge and understanding of other people and cultures. Additionally, pupils are encouraged to consider and respond to a range of important questions related to their own spiritual development, the development of values and attitudes and fundamental questions concerning the meaning and purpose of life. This runs parallel with our PSHE offer and the school focus on values.
Priory Rise is a culturally diverse school and, for many children, religion is a key part of their identity. We recognise the importance in all children being exposed and understanding a range of religious practices. A creative curriculum is paramount to the teaching of RE at Priory Rise; this allows children to gain knowledge in an engaging and memorable manner to then discuss, question and challenge beliefs in a respectful and compassionate manner. Priory Rise School also endeavours for children to take part in Religious Educational visits and engage with a range of religious visitors.
Religious Education is promoted visually around the school which promotes a positive attitude to recognising and accepting what makes us similar and different. Overall, our RE curriculum aims to develop skills and attitudes which will support the children’s personal, moral, social and cultural development.
