Year 6 Residential Updates

27th June 2019
We set off from Priory Rise bright and early but unfortunately for us in the rain! Sadly the weather did not improve when we took our comfort break or when we arrived at Chatsworth House, so we got a tad wet!
Regardless of the weather we enjoyed our activities and the chance to look around Chatsworth House itself. We then headed off to our accommodation for the rest of the week and after settling into our rooms we enjoyed a good dinner and are having a few party games before we get ready for bed.
More updates to come tomorrow!
A staggered start this morning due to the logistics of fitting in all of our activities! So one group got a slight lie-in while the other had an early start, but we were both off to the same place, Speedwell Cavern. We really enjoyed our boat rides through the tunnels, learnt lots from the tour guides and enjoyed seeing the cavern at the end. A really interesting start to the day!
After that we were off to the Mining Museum where we were very well look after. We ate a quick picnic lunch and then took it in turns to explore the museum, listen to a talk on mining, visit an old lead mine and have a go at panning for minerals.
With our minds full it was back to the youth hostel to fill our bellies! After dinner we were able to celebrate a certain young man's birthday and round off the night with a movie.
What a fab day!
Another fantastic day on our wonderful residential.
We set off early to get ourselves to the Heights of Abraham in time to get on the first cable cars of the day. Riding up to the top gave us the chance to take in some wonderful views, although there were a few of us that kept their eyes tightly shut!
Once at the top we split into groups and took in some amazing mine tours either side of lunch and the chance to play in the adventure playground... and enjoy a sneaky ice cream!
The mine tours were really interesting and educational... as well as fun!
With our day drawing to a close we rode the cable cars back down and were soon on our coaches back to the hostel. Another fab dinner and an evening of singing, dancing and laughing rounded off our final evening on residential.
Tomorrow we will be off to Bakewell and then before you know it we will be on our way home.
All good things must come to an end and so it was with our wonderful residential today.
We were up and packed away this morning, ready for one last big breakfast. Then we loaded everything and everyone on to the coaches and we were off to Bakewell. After a short walk around the town, children had the opportunity to purchase a Bakewell Tart before enjoying a picnic lunch.
Now we are back on the coaches and on our way home. Mums and Dads, we will see you soon!
