Library

At Priory Rise not only are children at the centre of our school - but reading is too! Being able to read is a gateway skill that makes all other learning possible; it enlarges a child’s perspective. Our library here at Priory Rise is home to a wealth of books that have the potential to inspire, educate and excite all children in our school, as well as developing their spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning journey.

Since our school opened in 2008, the library was, and continues to be a calm yet vibrant environment perfect for children to establish their love of reading. The library stock has expanded, now offering more than 4000 books, including fiction and non-fiction texts, poetry books and magazines. We offer books written by well-loved authors such as J.K. Rowling and Julia Donaldson, and our non-fiction texts range from Space to The Royal Family, with the breadth of the curriculum covered in between.

Children can cuddle up in a corner of the library and dive into a book they have self-selected, or they can choose a book to borrow to take home to share. Each class has a dedicated time slot and visits the library at least once a week; stories are shared with them by their class teacher and they can swap their previously borrowed book with a new one.
